- Last July I was interviewed by David Gans for the Grateful Dead Hour. David tapes the show in Berkeley and this was recorded during a West Coast trip to promote the book. This was one of my favorite promos for Growing Up Dead - the interview was solid, plus David had me read some parts from the book. He also played some music related to the reading and, last but not least, "Shasta" ...

- I've had a subscription to Rolling Stone since I was a teenager, so I was pretty psyched to see that my name had come out of original Rolling Stone writer Ben Fong-Torres' (he started writing for them in 1968, issue #8) head. Sure, the title of his entry is "Another Grateful Dead Book? Why?" but he's actually talking about The Grateful Dead Scrapbook, which he contributed to by writing ...

- On June 5th, 2009, I read passages from Growing Up Dead while Dave Stein, Garrin Benfield, Shoshana Zisk, Steve Cohn, and Chris DeJohn played their Acoustic Grateful Dead Night at Giordano Brothers in San Francisco, CA. This was taped on a small digital recorder in a loud bar with no previous rehearsal for the collaboration. All things considered, it's a fun listen! The two tracks I read on are ...

- I really like this article. It's fair, measured, it doesn't condescend or throw cheap shots, and it's well-written. The truth is that you talk to a journalist for 45 minutes and then hope for the best. You can't decide how you'll be portrayed, you don't get final approval of the article, and you usually can't tell how it'll come out until it's in print. So it's always a pleasure to read a review ...
