Southern Festival of Books

I attended the Southern Festival of Books in Nashville, TN this past Friday. Unfortunately, that was the only day I could be there, but it's a three day festival. I highly recommend it to all authors and readers. It takes place every year on the second weekend on the War Memorial Plaza in downtown Nashville and is free to the public. This year I was on a panel with two other historical fiction writers, Kip Gayden and Leslie Walker Williams - both of whom are EXCELLENT writers. There was a nice turn out for our session which was titled "Re-shaping the past: Novels that View and Review the Historical South". The folks who attended our session asked some truly great questions.

I had the honor of chatting with people who were interested in my book at the booksigning that followed the session. A BIG THANK YOU to all of them. It's the readers and their questions that make being a writer so rewarding. I also had the opportunity to meet and chat with two of my favorite authors, Darnell Arnoult and Clyde Edgerton and to meet a debut author, Dawn Shamp, who's work I'm sure I'm going to enjoy tremendously.

I can't praise this festival highly enough. The staff and volunteers are truly great. Anyone in the Nashville metro area, I encourage you to check out next year's festival. You'll be glad you did!
