Santa Cruz' Museum of Art & History @ the McPherson Center just published "Pathways to the Past, Adventures in Santa Cruz County History. Santa Cruz' written history goes back over 200 years and Santa Cruz History Journal Number 6 includes articles about early Pioneers like William Trevethan who sailed from Plymouth, England, in 1822. Journal Number 6 includes "Earthquake Collage," pp. 251-261 of the nearly 300-page Journal. Including the poem "Blackbirds Flying Backwards," a villanelle as shook up as Oct. 17, 1989 San Francisco Bay Area itself... sample stanza, faults and all:
"Beware landfill, beware malls. Beware cats that run away.
Here it comes. Step over the sill, get out on the curb.
Get out your Bible and start to pray..."
