San Andreas Fault, San Juan Bautista Mission, earthquake
The irrepressible aliveness and weird wisdom of the father-son series should win it a lasting place in the literature of our day. -Robyn Sarah, Globe & Mail, Toronto

Visit to San Juan Bautista, CA, and the famous Mission (1797), a multi-arched adobe structure situated just above the San Andreas Fault. Featured prominently in the 1958 Alfred Hitchcock film Vertigo. Friend we were with searched all over for the tower that had appeared in the movie... that tower, we later learned, had been built as part of the Vertigo set and was later torn down.
Fascinated by the beauty of the setting... ground zero for earthquake... yeah, that's my finger over the lens... Trying out my new Nikon Koolpix S60 digital camera...

Robert, the photograph
Robert, the photograph brings me back to a wonderful day spent in San Juan Bautista. We had lunch in a mexican restaurant that had a huge leafy courtyard packed with people enjoying themselves.
Robert Sward says:
Hello
Actually, I think we dined at the same Mexican restaurant that you mention, i.e., huge leafy courtyard, masses of geraniums-- a wedding going on... very festive... If you ever find yourself back in this area, please let us know. Like to meet you...

Robert Sward says:
Book Received!
Mary, Book received and it's a treasure! Amazing... The Irish Birthday Book, truly grateful... I believe I wrote earlier, right after it arrived, but rather than post a comment, I tried sending personal note directly to you. Apparently that never reached you. Anyway, please confirm receipt of these thanks. Truly, one of the most beautiful books I've ever seen.

Robert, the photo was taken last December in Half Moon Bay! I'm in Ireland now, sob, sob!
Robert Sward says:
Yes, it looks familiar!
Ah, Half Moon Bay... I know just where photo was taken... are you from Ireland? I detect a little homesickness for California, the U.S., yes?
Mary Wilkinson says:
Robert, I'n from everywhere!
