What I'm Reading

The Sin Eaters by Andrew Beahrs

I was not prepared for this one. I'm not a big historical fiction guy and Jacobean society is not one of my interests, yet I am captivated by Beahrs' book. His voice is compelling, his main character (an elderly woman) captivating, and the plot intriguing. Now, granted, I am only on page 25, but so far, so really good. It reminds me of Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M. Coetzee.

Irish Center At Elms College

I will be showing photographs and talking a bit about my Irish book this Sunday, April 13 in the Alumni Room of the Dooley Campus Center at Elms College. The event is being hosted by the Irish Center of Elms College, and I'm very honored to be part of their spring offerings.
