Put Your Walking Shoes On
Last week, my two sons ran screaming into the house because they had seen the UPS truck in our driveway upon returning from a friend's house. No, it was not a new Wii game for their birthdays<!--break--> or new school shoes their mother ordered online. It was a box of books -- a box of my books. Walking Boston is officially here!
Even after the hard work of revising, reviewing galley copies, negotiating and compromising on the small details, there is something tremendously exciting about opening a box of books with your name on the title. I am still constantly amazed by the number of people involved in putting together a book from that set of letters and symbols I type into my computer. I am so grateful for all their hard work. I am reading Rachel Kramer Bussel's Media Bistro article on book covers, "Who's Judging Your Book by Its Cover? Everyone.", and realizing how important book covers can be. Fortunately, the book cover for Walking Boston is dynamite. I think the deep red color is suitably Boston in the fall and the photographs give a good glimpse of Beantown. Let me know what you think.
