What I am reading and listening to
Okay, I've been trying all day to update the "What I'm Reading" portion of my bio because I am halfway through a really fun book and want to share it. So, here's what I had written:
I'm reading Firmin by Sam Savage
A literate and literary rat filled with self-loathing, naiveté, lust, curiosity, an inherent sweetness, and the vocabulary to describe it all. And he lives in a bookstore and practices phrenology on the owner's head. What's not to love? I've read to the point where Firmin looks in the mirror, realizes the misshapen, head with the motley fur is himself and learns to live with that knowledge. He is also splitting his time between Boston's old Rialto theater and the bookshop.
I'm listening to Silverlined by Donna the Buffalo
Lots of folk/country rock jams and tunes with DTB's usual insightful wit and sardonic commentary. My favorites so far are "Silverlined," "Temporary Misery," "Locket and Key," and "Biggie K." These guys came to town at the beginning of September and I missed them unfortunately. See them yourself at http://www.donnathebuffalo.com/.
