Writers are weird
Writers are weird. There, I've said it.
Very few other people have the patience, discipline, and flat out strangeness to sit alone for hours at a time in order to live in their heads.
Do you realize there's an entire category of people in the world who have never lived in their heads? Even for a moment? These are called politicians and they are doing the best they can.
By the way, there's a great song by Lyle Lovett called, "I Live in My Own Mind" which sounds like his ode to weird writer's everywhere... here's a video of him singing the song.

I really can't imagine a world where I didn't live in my head. I've tried to imagine that world, but then I woke up screaming... It's no wonder politicians are such a dour looking crowd. Poor things. That song is definitely going in my "anthems for when I'm working" playlist. Thank you for that. I had no idea it existed before you wrote about it.

Creative weirdness
I find the need to be in my own head to create also has some additional requirements in order to work. Do you have any writing rituals that help you get into the space to create as well? Or is just having space to sit alone and think usually enough?

Creative weirdness
We're not in our heads actually. We're in consciousness. Sometimes our minds connect in, when they get nasty and critical. However, it helps a lot to get out of our mind when doing anything creative. This may be tough when writing. I imagine being expressive as a musician, dancer, singer, artist as so much easier, because it is a direct connection to pure awareness, rather than having to filter it through words. My best ritual is to 'clear a space', get something to write with and on, do some exercise in consciousness such as physical exercise and deliberate exercises from the Avatar(R) course - see www.AvatarEPC.com. For those who use these tools, develop intuitive feel, do the Persistent Identity rundown from the Master's course and if you get roaringly sick, upset or stuck by life, do the Wiz pack.
