With Labor Day weekend upon us and all that this means—hedonistic consumption of beverages and chips, traffic jams, and family arguments—we at the Daily Sam would like to offer a few additional tips for preparing for the school year. Moms, Dads, Kids, Sadistic Football Coaches, Gang Leaders, and Schoolyard Drug Dealers all have a lot to do. The important thing is that we need to teach our children that learning can be fun!
One wonderful way to engage your children in school is to have them read great works of literature such as my book, How to Play the Harmonica: and Other Life Lessons, which I haven’t mentioned in this blog in days, and about which I will be interviewed tomorrow on West Coast Live. You can buy my book by simply clicking on the image to the right of this blog. This has been a public service announcement.
On a related note—related, if you have a mind like mine—Jessica Lindsey recently offered this bargain on Facebook (see picture). “Vintage (1970’s?) TOY N JOY chicken grabbing game in which the chicken and the game does not work. However, it’s still very cool but, unfortunately, we have no space for it. We were hoping to sell or trade it for something equally fun. Anyone interested?”
Thanks, Jessica! However, as someone who works in marketing, I feel compelled to tell you that you need to work on your sales pitch. Also, what does the picture of the ceramic girl with the big eyes have to do with the game?
See you in the schoolyard! I'll be with the Crips.

Me too. That picture was taken on my wedding night. I never got any of the catered food, so some loving friends of ours, the Headleys, got us a pizza.

I've been wondering why you look so happy and got so spiffed up to dine on pizza served on a paper plate. :-)
