I thought it would be fun to blog from the stage. I'm in the BOA Festival's show for the next two weeks in A Toss of The Hat written by Mike Ricca and produced by my company.

It is also directed by my husband Hans Summers. Yeah. Shut it. He cast his wife in the show. Nepotism sometimes rocks.

But, we are both good people and I'm not in the lead. I personally have no need whatsoever to be the Female Lead of a show as I know my type...and character actors just last longer.

I rather be Glenn Close than Meg Ryan. There is more shelf life being Glenn Close.

My official character is called "Patron". Gosh, I just love generic names to characters. The great thing about being Patron in direct idea to the show's "Fourth wall breaking premise" by the author is the idea that I end up playing many characters in one "Patron" (ranging from over the top Soap Opera dramatics to my Singing in the Rain Lena Lemont character)

I'm onstage the entire time. It is in a coffee shop (replete with San Francisco Theater posters of every show that is currently running THE SAME TIME as us with my friends in them...a picture of my cat Tut as a missing Animal..and a Yoga advertisement that is seriously hilarious if you are only really close up on the small print) I also have my laptop onstage.

I was hoping desperately to have internet connection so I could literally keep myself occupied...and to LIVE BLOG from the stage every day for the show.

Like almost every theater in The Bay Area (including this especially fantastic Eureka Theater) THERE IS NO INTERNET CONNECTION.

Even the ports that are findable are faint and sad (and of course...closed even if the signal was there..it would still be closed)

This is now officially my plea: PLEASE SUPPORT AND DONATE TO YOUR LOCAL THEATER COMPANY.

Most theaters are just making its way by asking for money to keep the door open and create incredible art. How nice would it be if people who support the arts (personal donating factions...proposals for theaters) also included something that every strong business needs to survive: Being on the internet in the theater.

How lovely would it be to have a theater equipped with internet connection, so in turn...they can hit a wider audience with its written work by podcasting live shows on the internet? How incredible would it be to be able to do behind the scenes with actors, writers and directors during the rehearsal process?

Wouldn't it be grand to have a class that could shoot to High Schools and Higher Education Programming from a theater itself.

Hell...how cool would it be for me to blog "From the Stage?"

Someone rich and smart make that happen. There is the idea. Use it....don't use it.
