I am one creative soul, an artist every inch of the way and this could have been one other profession I embarked on had I not taken up a course far from my dreams…I’m not just a wordsmith, I’m also a frustrated painter - a lover of art and one who sees the beauty in all of things that surround me.
Arts is one subject in school that fascinates me so much next to Language. I can mix up colors and copy images starting with just doodles then finally a work of art, thanks for my gifted hands with a life of their own! Sad to say, I haven’t got time to enrich my artistic skills but every now and then, I miss sketching and drawing up things. The oil pastels that I bought along with my sketch pad are placed in one corner of one of my bookshelves left untouched for a couple of years now…
What is it with arts that fascinates me? It’s not just the vivid colors and images that come to life through different strokes but how they convey or express the sentiment and emotions of the creator. For many it would just a be a piece of paper or a canvass but deep within there is meaning for every strand of color and lines that you get to see on it. Imagine magical hands with powers so great they can create masterpieces that are larger than life. Like a writer, an artist has his own distinct style that sets him apart from the others. The ways he depicts things in his work tells so much about himself and his perspective about the world he lives in. He need not words to say like a writer, to tell what’s going on his mind but his medium is his brush strokes and use of bold style colors that speak for themselves. If a writer’s weapon is his pen, it’s the paintbrush for the artist but both of them are truly “makers of life “ for they both have the power to create things no matter if some people say they’re both “weird”. So consider me “doubly weird” for I possess both the skills of a writer and an artist and I’m loving it!
