Jacki-O has had a few different occupations, including high-end shoplifter and one-time self-proclaimed contender for rap queen of the South. But she's wearing a new hat that truly suits her: Urban novelist. Author of Grown & Gangsta, she's making a convincing bid to become the hood version of Jackie Collins.

Like Collins, she's got a flair for writing nasty scenes down to the last detail. And, like Collins, she'll have you skipping ahead to find them.

I wanted to quote a passage from one, but they're pretty crazy. Here's a tame one:

"Their three bodies formed a triangle of sins and their sounds of sexual pleasures were like a symphony of freaky carnality."

Incidentally, the book is the first offering from TRU Publishing, whose proprietor is rapper Corey Miller a.k.a. C-Murder, the brother of former No Limit soldier Master P who remains in a protracted battle to toss out a second-degree murder charge.

"I like alternative, I like rock, I like heavy metal -- I like all kinds of music," Jacki told me four years ago, a few days before I unconvincingly posed as a brainless vixen on her video set. "I like Bjork, I like Alanis Morrissette, Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers, R&B, soul, rhythm and blues, Sade. I like all kinds of music, especially if it has a message in it and especially if it is narrative, like if it's telling a story."

One of the characters profiled in Country Fried Soul, she and C-Murder are about to be involved in my life in an interesting way. But I will save that tale for another time.
