Terence Clarke's San Francisco Fiction-Writing Seminar
And how is that novel coming along?
I will be hosting a fiction-writing seminar, meeting once a week in the evening in San Francisco, California beginning Thursday night, March 5, 2009.
There will be no more than ten participants, and each participant’s work will be discussed by the others twice, over a five-session period. Participants will be expected to have read thoughtfully and with a critical eye the work for each particular session, and to discuss the work in an even-handed and helpful way. Neither character attacks nor molly-coddling will be permitted. Thoughtful criticism with an eye to improving the manuscript will be enthusiastically encouraged.
Besides leading the sessions. I will provide my own thoughts on a participant’s work in writing, and will present them at the relevant session. Also, I will regularly present information about the publishing industry, where it is, where it’s going and, most important, how to approach it as a writer. This will include information about the established industry and also about digital on-line publishing and self-publishing.
Reflection, feeling, thoughtfulness and good humor will all be highly valued in this seminar.
