I was doing so well!!! After a hectic Friday day off and not being able to get my word count for most of the week due to working on final edits for Legend of the White Wolf (Feb release) and Deadly Liaisons (print version, Jan release), and losing the 2 pages of mostly comma edits on Deadly Liaisons after saving under temporary files and not being able to locate the galley changes again, which meant starting from scratch again and I haven't had the time, and finishing lessons for my June class...and watering in the 106 degree heat before all my plants die...

I finally went to work on trying to catch up on the 5,000 words I needed for Seduction of the Wolf. I was really going great...felt great about the added scenes, began editing the ones already in there so they match up and then!!!

Well, you know I had trouble shutting my laptop down the other day. All of a sudden the laptop gets really hot, and it never does that, and then, it cools down. *sigh* And I keep typing and moving scenes around and lose words and add words and all of a sudden, the screen goes black. The laptop absolutely keeled over and died. My family got it for me for Christmas. Grrr. My first one ever. And now that I've had it, I use it all the time. I use it at work on my lunch break and use it to get away from the Internet in quiet solitude to work on my stories. I used it for all the long hours I spent with my mother in the hospital. Her last gift to me. Soooo, I'm devastated. All week I'll have to go to work and not have my laptop to work on my story or catch up on emails, *sigh*...just eat lunch. How absolutely unproductively boring!!!

The good news was that I got word count, am over by 2500 words for this and last week and hope to add a whole bunch more on my 4th of July long weekend! :) No class this week either. Although I have students who are eagerly awaiting a new class as soon as I write up the lessons, so hope to do that this weekend also. And water. And mourn my laptop until I can find out who to send it to to have it fixed.

Have to run to work, but in the meantime, have a super Monday! It's going to be SOOO busy today and we're short handed again. argh. Saturday was a madhouse. In fact, every day it seems it's getting that way. Only 2 of us to handle 650 patrons on Saturday. Wow, if only they were all buying my books!

did you lose anything

when it died? What a terrible feeling, and so new, too! Great that you did catch up on the word count. I am amazed at how much you accomplish every day!

yeah...unfortunately...

I didn't have a chance to really figure out what I lost exactly, but I know I'd made changes, shifted stuff around, and though I save frequently, and to a flash drive...I hadn't saved right before the system when down. So another disappointment (besides losing the temporary file with the 2 days of line edits...). But I'm off to try and see if I can rectify what I'd changed on this before I forget what I had wanted to do. And hopefully get in my required 1,000 words, maybe. :) Saving to a flash drive was a life saver though!!

I wish I'd saved my line edits also on the flash drive. :)

I will admit, I NEVER EVER got back to weedeating. :) Very low priority right now!!!
