3. Be a supporter of their favorite cause
Well then, how do you have a movie made of your book by a celebrity?
1. Be related to someone who can help you
2. Rewrite and rehash someone else’s unique and original material

How true, unfortunately! My husband was asked to talk at a writers' conference recently, and one of his props was a Book Page edition showing the new books coming out. Most were by or about celebrities, and yet none seem particularly interesting to me. Give me a good story any day, but mainstream publishers are shying away from stories. They just want celebrity!

I guess we grin and bear it, but sometimes it just seems so unfair. Good stories will win out in the end--market follows money so we are the ones that have to support stories over celebs.
