June 30, 2008, 9:59 am

For those who have checked out the clip of my speech at Mt. Holyoke from October of 2007--which has been pretty hot on YouTube and here on Redroom--the full 57 minute video, from which the clip was taken is now available for purchase. The high quality production is broken down into chapters that can be viewed individually, with or without closed-captioning, or it can be watched straight through.

You can buy the DVD at the following link:

Here's the description of the event, from the back of the DVD case:

"In this spellbinding lecture, Tim Wise, author of White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son, offers a unique, inside-out view of race and racism in America. Expertly overcoming the defensiveness that often surrounds these issues, Wise provides a non-confrontational explanation of white privilege and the damage it does not only to people of color, but to white people as well. This is an invaluable classroom resource: an ideal introduction to the social construction of racial identities, and a critical new tool for exploring the often invoked--but seldom explained--concept of white privilege."
