Words on Words... A Snippet on Style

"... each word in each human language is a glowing talisman empowered with meaning.  When writing, we can choose words at random, just enough to barely tell our tale. Or we can choose wisely and with subtlety—the ones that shine, sparkle and glitter best together, making up the most harmonious and balanced bouquet of verbal delight. A writer who places importance on style is like a person who is a sharp dresser—it's not necessary but it makes a more powerful and memorable statement. In real life I am a bum who wears the same three t-shirts and pull-on pants, but in my writerly avatar I am a high courtier dressed at the height of fashion—or so I hope."
