Whew - Nano 2008 is over
It's december 1st which means last night was the end of the national novel writing month challenge. Write a novel in 30 days. I uploaded and validated my win last night just prior to 11 pm EST. Final word count 90,449 a new personal best. The greatest part of being certified as a NanoWinner was that i also completed the novel.
I had targeted 80K for the novel and finished just over 90K so i guess my outlining skills are improving as well.
Before jumping in to edit this first draft I'm going to print out the story, set it to the side and not look at it for a month. Will induldge in a few things that i put on the back burner for the month of november and will start back in January.
The experience as always was an eye-opener. Not just in completing a novel but in learning about myself, my boundaries, responding to pressure, a time line and most importantly reconnecting with my writing. Once you get in the groove of writing everyday do you build the momentum and rhythm necessary. It always reminds me of how much i really enjoy writing, how fulfilling and rewarding it truly is. How if given a choice it would be something i'd like to do all the time.
Great stuff - looking forward to getting to the next level.
