MONTE CLARK'S LAST INTERVIEW in WHAT IT...
MONTE CLARK Right Tackle 1956 - 1958 I came out of Kingsburg, California. It's a tiny California farm town in the San Joaquin Valley, so small that Bakersfield is considered a big city, so to speak. Our rivals were towns like Chowchilla. However, two of the greatest athletes of all time came from Kingsburg. Rafer Johnson was ahead of me. He won the 1960 decathlon at the Rome Olympics. ...
Profanity in Young Adult Fiction (or any...
This subject has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time. The subject recently came up in the Utah Children's Writer's message board, and there are a lot of people who say profanity is needed to make a scene believable or credible.I for one, do not believe using profanity in ANY book is necessary, adult or young adult. I've seen many books depicting bad characters who use profanity, but the ...
Call yourself Something!
I will pick the adorable Missy up from the Animal Sanctuary on Monday. We got the all clear! Our home is deemed suitable for yet, another pet. Missy will be number three. Bella the cat and Lenny the Beagle have all come before her. I am excited at the prospect. Still did not mention the possibility of her being pregnant to hubby. No harm in a little secrecy. Right? The vet can decide. I will ...

Bedbugs
M scrubs the floor with a wet t-shirt, eyes peeled for bedbugs. She’d been bitten all night and ignored my comment that she has sweet blood. She has zero tolerance for jerkiness and shoves aside my pile of record albums and grabs the Windex. She squirts a spiral galaxy into the chafed pine floor then balls the t-shirt up and punches into every sneaky crevice. “Dump some of this crap,” she ...
