- It published a dozen position papers on various Food and Drug Administration programs.
- It helped recast breast cancer as a national public emergency in which all people have a stake.
- The universal nature of the epidemic is made clear by these facts:
178,480 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2007: one every three minutes);
62,030 women diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ in 2007; and
40,910 deaths from breast cancer occurred in 2007 (one death every thirteen minutes).
BCA works with other breast cancer organizations to bring about important legislative changes at the state and federal levels. In coalition with women's health and environmental organizations, Breast Cancer Action pushes for the answers that will lead to true prevention cure of the most common cancer in women.
