Description

"Where were you when you heard Kennedy was shot?" has almost become a cliché. We're going to expand it a bit by telling stories about where we were when recent events that have become historically important occurred. If you had personal ties to the event, so much the better.

Nixon Resigning-1974

I've always been interested in Watergate. No doubt because when I was ten days old, the break-in happened and politics changed forever. My friend Stacy once said I brought good in the world.

I was two when Nixon left office, thirty-five years ago next month. I once asked my mother how she felt when he left. She said incredibly sad, because of his good-bye speech.

I watched the speech in high school, then again recently after seeing Frost/Nixon. I only get now that Nixon was so near a nervous breakdown with his speech. I was reminded of it again with Sarah Palin's recent speech when she decided to step down.
