Reviving the manner and tradition of the Art Salons that were prevalent in 19th century Europe this is a gathering of people who immerse themselves in the world of literature and art.
The program showcases the voice and work of international poet Ana Elsner who is the featured guest.

Ana Elsner's poems have been published in seven countries in the English original and in translation. She is a poet with a global perspective and an international readership.

On exhibit will be the oil paintings and clay sculptures of Ruth Petersen Shorer who captures powerful universal feelings in her art.

The unique format of the Salon engages the attendees directly and personally with the poet and the artist in an evening of discovery and conversation.

This gathering of aficionados of the arts is held at the historic former train depot on the west side of San Rafael at 11 G-street. It now houses the artist-friendly Cafe Arrivederci. The red brick triangular property held San Rafael's westernmost train station, with the tracks continuing on to "The Hub" in San Anselmo. Here is a little bit of "old" Marin history, still in evidence.
