Join us at independent bookstore Books Inc. at Opera Plaza/San Francisco, where I will be hosting an interactive, audience participation "instant" book discussion with Tamin Ansary, author of this year's One City One Book selection, West of Kabul/East of New York: An Afghan American Story. We will read a selection from the book together and then talk about it, with the author on hand to add comments and answer your questions.
Born in Afghanistan and now living in San Francisco, Tamim Ansary writes and lectures about Afghanistan, Islamic history, democracy, and education, as well as fiction and the writing process. He also directs the San Francisco Writers Workshop. His memoir explores his personal journey reconciling two very different cultures in a post 9/11 world.
