Poet Ana Elsner returns to the San Francisco Public Library with a brand-new program headlined
POEMS MAKE THE WORD GO 'ROUND
sponsored and funded by The Friends of The San Francisco Public Library.
:
Ana Elsner will set the word in motion and demonstrate the dynamics of poetry with her own most recent poems.
Tuesday, February 23, 2010,
7 p.m.
at the SFPL,
North Beach Branch
2000 Mason Street at Columbus Avenue
in fabulous San Francisco
In her performance Ana Elsner shows that poetry stands apart from any other literary genre
in that it is immediate, employs rhythmic resonance, delivers passionate cadenzas and is
emotionally evocative, all within a condensed format of lines. This animated presentation of
poetry is echoed and enhanced by principal oboist of the San Francisco Opera orchestra, Laura
Griffiths. At the end of the performance the audience is invited to join Ana Elsner
in a conversation about her work and about poetry in general.
