On April 5, 2008 Carla Reed departed for New York to choreograph and rehearse KOOL, a dance tribute to Japanese dancer and friend Suzushi Hanayagi (Suzushi means cool in Japanese). She collaborated with director Robert Wilson. Tennessee Reed and Ishmael Reed joined her on April 16. While Carla rehearsed Ishmael Reed and Tennessee had lunch in Chelsea with friends Linda Rodgriguez-Guglielmoni, Tony Spiller, Miguel Algurin and Luis Chaluisan. Tennessee, Linda and Luis went to Macy's where Tennessee bought two Guess tees on sale and some cute tights and socks by Hue. On Saturday Ishmael relaxed at the hotel while Tennessee went with friend Cecilia Caruso to the American Museum of Natural History and Central Park. On Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday evening Ishmael and Tennessee attended KOOL. Carla's New York family and friends all attended the event. On Sunday Carla and Tennessee Reed went to the Nuyorican Poets cafe to watch a rehearsal of the New York premiere of Domestic Crusaders and also to see a film about friend and dancer Sally Gross. On Sunday evening Carla went to the staged reading of "Domestic Crusaders" while Ishmael and Tennessee Reed went to the Bowery Club to hear readings from some of the authors from the new short story anthology "Pow Wow." Tennessee was happy to have some bus and subway adventures.
