 <description>&lt;p&gt;I&#039;ve had a few days of celebrating, accompanied by mixed emotions.  While Obama&#039;s election and the clear rejection of the GOP brand by the majority of the country is certainly something to celebrate, the fact that Prop. 8 in California passed and Michele Bachman was re-elected showed me that too many of our people are still entrenched in a painful paradigm of separation and hate.&amp;nbsp;And I ... &lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Since McCain floored me with his choice of Gov. Palin for his VP candidate, I&#039;ve been giving some thought as to how we in this country (and in the world, for that matter) can elevate public discourse. I&#039;m as guilty as anyone of falling into vitriol engendered by rancor. Despite Ms. Palin&#039;s own sarcasm and divisive politics, calling her a beauty-pageant bimbo is hardly productive.
