About Me

• MTamanika (Nika) C. Beamon is a African-American female who currently resides in New Jersey. Currently, she is a Writer/Producer for WABC-TV Eyewitness News in New York. She is awaiting the release of her first non-fiction project, I DIDN'T WORK THIS HARD JUST TO GET MARRIED: Successful Single Black Women Speak Out.

   

  In 2000, she published her first novel, Dark Recesses, the poignant tale of David Jackson, a promising, young attorney who travels to rural Virginia for a family reunion and is entangled in a web of betrayal that had been hidden in his family tree. In December 2000, it was listed in Inside Magazine’s Hidden Hit List column as a best-selling print on demand title. In 2002, she completed her second novel, Eyewitness. Eyewitness is the story of a man shot to death by a shadowy figure rising from the smoldering bushes lining the walkway to Beulah Baptist Church in a quiet, Southern town. After receiving two contradictory descriptions of the shooter from eyewitnesses; one describing a white perpetrator and one a black, the town and the investigation are divided along the color line. While representing a key suspect in the case, a leading attorney and female Reverend not only uncovers the truth, but finds along the way.

   

  In 2006, she completed her third fiction novel, Fatal Relation. Fatal Relation is a love story based around a triple homicide in a quiet, residential neighborhood. When the police leak the news that deaths are a murder/suicide, Judith Patillo tries to figure out how her son’s marriage could’ve ended this way. All the while, she and her estranged husband find the feelings they once have for each other have been rekindled through this tragedy.

  Her first non-fiction book, I DIDN'T WORK THIS HARD JUST TO GET MARRIED: Successful Single Black Women Speak Out with a Foreword by Dr. Bella DePaulo is being published on May 1, 2009 by Chicago Review Press. It features narrative tales and advice from nearly 20 successful, single black women on how to be happy with your life and career without a man.

   

  She is currently at work on another novel, Amazing Grace. Amazing Grace is a tale of a woman in jeopardy. 16 year old, Jasmine Quinzon is a flirtatious Catholic schoolgirl who is abducted by a man who’s been watching her for quite some time. The quasi-religious teen must turn to faith to get her through the ordeal. She quickly learns to how to use her captor’s physical attraction for her to gain his trust. Once free, she learns how devastating her captivity has been on her family and how faith will help her family to recover.

   

  M.C. Beamon has been a reviewer for Publisher’s Weekly Magazine and QBR: The Quarterly Black Book Review Magazine, as well as various websites. She is also a member of the Writers Guild of America East and the National Association of Black Journalists. She won a Peabody Award for ABC News’ coverage of the September 11th Attacks.
