About Me

  • You can not read anything I write in the local NYT owned regional newspaper. Not even an opinion of mine on the opinion page. Apparently what I write is so dangerous it has to be kept from the people... or at least that is what the editor and publisher of that newspaper think.

I have been "blacklisted" for about 7 years now.

Why? For  calling for a boycott against one of their biggest  advertisers who I (and others) considered was  running racist advertising in a mayoral contest.

Before that one letter, they would print just about everything I wrote... and I was even invited out to lunch with the Editor.

But then what I wrote... would have hurt their bottom line if they had printed it... so that was the end of me.

It's very simple: revenue was more important to them than fairness... or even justice.

Because of that blacklisting, I was asked by Ms. Theresa Beverly, to write a monthly column for her local monthly community newspaper, where I could say what I wish, without censorship.

Basically, what I write are "Things You Can't Read in an Alabama Newspaper."

Who am I? I am a seventh generation Southerner who according to the local Chief of Police, is a  "troublemaker."

I see myself however, as just a writer commenting on present day discrimination and injustice against African Americans and others...

Just a person trying to do my small part to make my town and America and the World a slightly better place.

Because of this, my wife has given me the nickname of "Saint Will

    Of course I'm no Saint.

But if the shoe fits... I'll wear it proudly.

    And...

    I'll keep on writing.

One NYT Monkey of a regional newspaper will not stop this author.
