A teacher and author, I write novels for teens and tweens. My first book, Baby Blue (Henry Holt, 2004), a Booksense Pick, was named a New York Public Library Best Book for the Teen Age. My second novel, Itch, for middle-grade readers (Henry Holt, April 2008), was named to the Kansas State Reading Circle Recommended List and was a Cybils nominee. Itch is now available as an audio book (Recorded Books, 2008). Blue Plate Special, a YA/Adult cross-over novel, is due out in fall 2009 (Chronicle Books). A teacher and writer, I've taught art in the public schools for over twenty years - first in New York, and now in western Massachusetts. I began writing for teens and tweens over ten years ago.
