About Me
When most people go on holiday, they sleep on beaches, ride WaveRunners and drink in excess. Pj Perez finds the busiest coffee shop he can, claims a corner, and breaks out a notebook. For days.
What started with maudlin poetry and homemade comic books became a career in journalism, starting with regular contributions to local alt-weeklies and websites, working up to regional and national magazines and editing gigs, including a one-year stint with Las Vegas start-up Racket Magazine. Perez spent more than two years editing and writing web content for VEGAS.com and launched the Vegas celebrity gossip blog DailyFiasco.com, leaving just before his soul started to deteriorate.
Now, the 18-year Las Vegas resident is working back toward his creative roots. In addition to regular freelance contributions to alt-weeklies, regional magazines and anything else for which clients are willing to pay him, Perez is working on a treatment for a television pilot, a regional history book, and several comic book series. He recently launched the boutique comic and book publishing site Pop! Goes the Icon and posts a new episode of his original, creator-owned serialized graphic novel, The Utopian, every Wednesday. He also plays drums in alt-rock band As Yet Unbroken.
