About Me

  • Lauralee Moss, an Illinois native, grew up in a pitifully small town with little to do. Her boredom led to reading which led to a career. Her writing focuses on societal issues such as education, breast-feeding, and feminism.

Her heroes growing up were Lois Lane, Murphy Brown, and Hillary Clinton. It is no accident that only one of those women is real.

    February 16, 2010

    • Because I procrastinate, I waited until today to pay my credit card that was due today.  I try to log in online to make the payment, to which I receive a message that my social security number is incorrect.I call the company, because I do not want a late fee, and speak to a man for about 10 minutes. He's pretty agreeable, except he will not wave the $15 fee for making a payment online. I know ...

    • Arianna Huffington (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/sleep-challenge-2010-i-no_b_430748.html?&just_reloaded=1) has a sleep challenge for women. Her logic is that women have accomplished so much thay we could accomplish more if we are well rested. I read her opening blog for the series that women should literally sleep their way to the top. She has scarry facts that women are ...

  • Empathy

    November 17, 2009

    • The empathy I have always felt for characters scares me. I perhaps identify with imaginative people too much. Laura Ingalls Wilder struck me as a young girl. I recall crying because Mary went blind and Nellie Olson taunted everyone. Later, it was Charlotte Doyle, the Goosebump characters, and the boy from Where The Red Fern Grows. Then books started to teach me how literature connected the world ...

Comments I've Written

  • hilarious

This made me smile. I always feel such pressure to blog when I get the notifications of new topics. This is really great.
  • interesting

It is terrible that such ignorance still exists. Fascinating blog, however. It is always interesting to learn something new.
  • Shoddy English

I think writers should write well. More than an example for others, writers record present day cultures and societies.
  • I know the feeling. The

I know the feeling. The 'suggestions' of facebook bring back memories of people I am no longer on friendly terms with, but obviously have many connections to them.
  • Alicia, I never even thought

Alicia, I never even thought of that, but you are completely right. I have "Sherlock Holmes, Volume I" in my diaper bag right now but it is so bulky.
