About Me

  • I am a writer, mother, and wife. I am currently working on my second novel, a family saga of three sisters who reunite after many years apart to discover that miles and time are invisible when you find yourself back where you began. Secrets, tragedy, and all the "good stuff" that make up dysfunctional families are found within the pages of this story. These girls have been itching to tell their story for more than 20 years, so I finally decided to give them a voice.

  • Halloween and the ladies are out

    October 28, 2009

    • Last week I visited The Netherworld haunted houses in Atlanta.  In my entire life -- and we're talking 40 plus years, here -- I don’t recall ever going to a haunted house. And why not? Well, probably because I'm a big scaredy-cat. I don’t watch scary movies and I still look under my bed from time-to-time JUST TO BE SURE.  Well, when you have a ghost living in your house, you have to make ...
  • Success!

    October 26, 2009

    • For those of you who read my previous blog about "making the team," I'm reporting back. He made the team! Success is a wonderful feeling. My son set himself a goal, when he was 6, that he would be on the 8th grade school basketball team. Last Friday, he met that goal. In order to be considered for the team, he had to attend tryouts all week -- 2 1/2 hours of training / practicing / ...
  • Makin' the team

    October 23, 2009

    • My son is trying out for the school basketball team. He's in the 8th grade, has played basketball for 7 years, off an on, for different leagues. He is nearly 6 feet tall, skinny as a rail, and the kid can play. I know, I'm his mother, but I really wouldn't encourage him as much as I do unless I knew he had skills. So he made the first round of cuts. And as I waited in the school parking lot for ...
  • Going Home

    October 15, 2009

    • Just about a month ago, I went home. It had been several years since I visited my hometown of London, Ontario, Canada. More than 10 years ago, with four kids in tow, ranging in age from 2 to 13, we left family and friends behind and headed south. We've lived in the suburbs of Atlanta ever since.During the past decade we've had plenty of visits from family. Escaping the cold winters of Canada, my ...
  • What I don't know for sure

    October 13, 2009

    • I've decided that instead of writing what I know -- which is what we are told we must do -- I should write about what I don't know.I'm almost certain that what I don't know is far more intriguing than what I do know. For instance, I know that you can fit four kids, one Christmas tree, and a week's worth of groceries into a Ford Taurus station wagon. I know that Spanx were invented by angels. I ...

Comments I've Written

  • Very nice

So true...Why are we always looking outside ourselves for that peaceful feeling?
  • Thanks!

Thank you for your comments! You just can't beat Timmies coffee.
  • Completely agree

Thanks for sharing this. It does seem like a cycle. We think we know what we want, but when we get what we ask for we aren't satisfied.
  • Carpe Diem

Thanks for the comment and I hope your son was not seriously hurt.
  • Thanks!

Louise, thanks so much! I think that no matter how successful we are, we hold ourselves back at times. I just decided that today was my day...
