About Me

  • Gayle Hansen is a self-described "Old Hippie Biker in Recovery"  She's not fooling anyone by writing this profile in the 3rd person, but she likes the sound of it, although I find it difficult to sustain,  see?

Gayle is also a non-traditional student returned to school after 30 years...with a LOT of stuff in between.

  • Hawai'i is cool...

    August 18, 2009

    • Aloha! I returned about a week ago from 7 days back home in Hawai'i, where I went to visit family and to cool off and get away from the California heat. I know, I know, MOST people go to Hawai'i to warm up in the Winter; I go to cool off in the Summer. The Island that I visited is Lana'i, which is usually much cooler temperature-wise than most of the other Islands, and it did not disappoint. ...
  • Earned a Vacation, I think...

    April 8, 2009

    • Alrighty, then.  Finished my first quarter at University with a 3.75 GPA (not really that big a deal, some might say, since I was only going half-time EXCEPT that I managed to pull it off immediately after having had a major stroke, followed almost immediately by surgery on my carotid artery, and then developing a truly unpleasant case of shingles...oh, boy...). WHEW! I've GOT to be the Poster ...

In 1972 I had a HUGE poster on the wall of my apartment in Berkeley that read "Women Hold Up Half The Sky" and during a dinner party one night, someone crossed out "half" and wr

  • Oh, oh, I just GOT a Kindle...what does that make me?

It makes me smart enough to have realized that due to problems that I'm having with my vision and the fact that even reading large print books is a chore and no longer a pleasure, I think I've foun
