About Me

  • A pharmacist by profession, a haiku poet by nature, I read and write.  I have a book of haiku, Ohayo haiku, am working on another somewhat alternative haiku book, but write other genres.  I also read...lots of novels!  My favorite is, and remains, Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged but I am also a big Harry Potter fan.

  • GAWKward teen...

    March 16, 2010

    • Every teen has his moments of angst...those times when he wishes the floor would open up and swallow him.  Okay, maybe not every teen, but I know I was that kind of teen. I never felt comfortable in my skin, and was always sure that I was being made fun of.  Perhaps had I not been the scrawniest ninth grader in high school, I might have felt differently.  As I entered high school, I was the ...
  • Beware the Ides of March

    March 15, 2010

    • Yes, today is the 15th of March, which is also known as the Ides of March.  Julius Caesar had his moment then, or at least his last moments then.  For me, this day has other reasons of importance.  For one thing, the buzzards return to Hinckley, Ohio on this date.  For many bird watchers, it signifies the end of winter and the coming of spring. More important (to me, that is) is today is the ...
  • Changing times...

    March 12, 2010

    • Lots of things going on this weekend, one of which is the springing forward of Daylight Savings Time. This year it isn't even spring yet before the country gets their internal clocks messed up again.  Okay, perhaps I am speaking out of turn...maybe I should say it messes up my internal clock! On the other hand, perhaps it truly  is spring...the local hot spot of Huron, Ohio,  the famous Pied ...
  • There are books, and the unsophisticated reader,

    March 10, 2010

    • This is just one person's opinion: mine! Okay, I will admit it. I am probably what most would call an unsophisticated, eclectic reader.  I don't like to read most of what is considered erudite literature if it contains what I call MFA-style writing or avant garde (read: unintelligible, doesn't make any sense) writing.  I'm sorry if that offends anyone.  I'm sure it will because many schools ...
  • Erk...zoom!

    March 8, 2010

    • My husband talks about a game that some of his church youth groups played.  It was called Erk...zoom!  Quick description of the game was that all sat in a circle going around and when someone said Erk...zoom the flow reversed causing chaos and havoc.  That's how I felt about the last three reads.  The genres were so different that I felt dizzy from the abrupt changes.  Not that I minded, but ...

    I liked this...pretty cool! Now, I'll stop!
  • I know what you mean, and I

I know what you mean, and I agree with you. I had my own "moment" too and that's when I knew.
  • Nice post...

yeah, I loved the movie, Lucas, but it is a shame to see another fall prey to drugs. I'm glad you found your letter jacket; I hope he did, too.
  • Yeah, selling books this way

Yeah, selling books this way is the punishment for writing and publishing them! At least, that's what my husband says (having done this once or twice ourselves)!
