About Me

  • I am the owner of Medusa's Muse Press, a micro press located in Northern Caifornia, which publishes transformative non-fiction, especially memoir. When I'm not managing my press and editing other people's writing, I write plays and other types of fiction. I started a press because I am mad about books and love working with writers. When I'm an old lady, I will live in a house made of books, surrounded by writers and other crazy artists.

  • A Middle Aged Emily The Strange

    November 11, 2009

    • This Halloween I had class, so my husband Rick decided to join me in San Francisco while my daughter's bio dad stayed with her at home. They went trick-or-treating and had a nice, long visit, which was good because she doesn't get to see him often. Rick rode the motorcycle down to The City which meant we could tool around on Halloween on the bike, rather than fighting for parking with the ...
  • Ode to Opium

    September 23, 2009

    • My muse lounges on my bed, dressed in a tight, black Victorian corset, black silk bloomers, and stiletto heels. "You know," she says, drawing on a cigarette held in a long ivory holder, "Your surgery would have been a lot more fun with Opium."I shake ...
  • The Writing Itch

    September 2, 2009

    • Shhhh... I have a secret. I'm writing a new novel. I'm not sure why I'm doing this because I can't think of a worse time to start in on another novel, which will probably wind up like my last novel: rejected by an agent and then reduced to hiding in my file cabinet, shamed and bruised. I start the Fall semester of Grad school in three weeks, plus I'm gearing up to launch the newest title from ...
  • If I had started a band, I'd be a Punk Rock Star

    May 27, 2009

    • Why is there so much stigma around self-published authors, and yet a self-recorded musician is praised as a creative entrepreneur? Any fledgling, unsigned musician with “Garageband” can make a demo and post it on MySpace. No one looks down on them for doing so; in fact, many great bands have started out underground, collecting a following before signing a record deal.      It isn't just ...

  • art editions

I am a book publisher, although I haven't attempted publishing art editions yet. They can be very expensive to create, something beyond my ability right now.
