About Me

  • Software engineer, writer, and occasional artist, Ed has a broad range of interests and experiences.  Born in Titusville, FL., Ed spent the first 17 years of his life moving frequently, both inside and outside America.  Ed has been writing off and on since Junior High School, where he would torment his English teachers with poetry and prose in dire need of rewriting.  Ed now resides in Austin, Texas, where he is inflicting himself on the local writing community.  Ed is working on a few short stories, and in his spare time works on outlines for two novellas.

Woolyloach's Blog

  • My name is Ed.. and I am.. a chataholic!

    March 1, 2010

    • Well, what a long strange trip it's been. Yes, it's been ages since I last blogged, and there's no new writing posted.  The silence from me has been deafening. Why? I blame Web chat.At first it was just hanging out online with some friends, for about half an hour.  Then it grew into an hour, then to the point where I would come home, fire up the laptop, and be in online chat until I finally ...
  • Interactive Fiction, Part Deux

    December 2, 2009

    • Well, it's been fun recently - for some version of "fun".I decided to get down and dirty, and find out what it would take to try to get my poetry (such as it is) out into the world, preferably into some print publication, no matter how small.  And, as you might expect, it's in no wise as easy as you might think. The market for poetry is *microscopic* compared to something as unusual as, ...
  • Men's Home Journal

    November 25, 2009

    • Ok, so I gave in.I hit Barnes and Noble on the way home last night and bought a real, honest-to-goodness leater-bound journal.  It has 250 lightly-ruled pages, a nice built-in bookmark, and has infinite battery life!  Not to mention that, when I drop it, it doesn't scatter bits of my writing all over the pavement.Since I'm switching from longer-form work back to poetry, shorts, and flash ...
  • He who waits.. procrastinates..

    November 24, 2009

    • Well, after spending a productive afternoon staring at the poems I have posted on my Moveable Type blog, considering self-publishing some of it, or just working up some nicely illustrated PDFs, I've accomplished nothing but giving myself a headache. What I need to do over the holidays, is to pull down all my poetry, chop the collections back up into individual poems, and re-group!  Just put a few ...
  • You can't teach a new dog old tricks

    November 24, 2009

    • ..or "How I Learned to Live with Failing NaNoWriMo".  It does sound more than a touch pretentious, doesn't it? After many a day slaving over a hot netbook, from early in the morning to (on occasion) early the NEXT morning, at work during breaks, and even a NaNoWriMo write-in or two.. I admit defeat.I did manage to more than double my last years word count.  I don't think 22,000+ ...

Comments I've Written

  • Hello! Sorry I didn't

Hello! Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I was in "turkey torpor" for the past few days, accomplishing very little. Since I bought my journal, I've found I write little bits, more often.
  • Thanks! I might take you up

Thanks! I might take you up on that, anything that helps motivate me to stay home and write is a help! SOMETHING has to keep me off the streets and out of the pool halls...
  • Vicki: thanks for the

Vicki: thanks for the encouragement! :-)
  • Christi, that's interesting!

Christi, that's interesting! I never thought of the international reach side, just being able to write while puttering around the U.S.
