LONGMONT — Students at Indian Peaks Elementary School commonly ask, “Why do we have to do this?” principal Kahle Charles said.

“We can say to them, ‘So you can go on to middle school and to high school and be successful,’” Charles said.

It never hurts, though, for those students to see an adult who is successful because he or she mastered a subject the students are learning.
