Electric Chocolate Poems 1988-1989

Synopsis:
This is a collection of my poems written between ages eleven and twelve.
Book Excerpt:
THE W POEM
Wednesdays are my favorite days
because they start with a W
and Wednesdays are the middle
of the week and
I like the middle.
I started liking Wednesdays
about seven or eight years ago
and I never changed
from my favorite day.
Wednesday is the poet’s day
because the Roman god of the middle of the week
is Mercury, a poet’s god
and the German god of the middle of the week
is Woden, a poet’s god.
Wednesday’s from water I think
because water starts with W
and Woden is a rain storm god.
I think Woden likes to sing a lot
the rain songs: drip drop drip drop drip drop drip drop
and I’m Pisces the Fish
and I like to swim a lot.
The Greeks had no W.
The Latins had no W.
The English had a W since 1066.
They got it from the Germans.
It’s a double V
so why is it called a double U?
I think because the shape of the character
was invented from the two Us.
I like W words: win, won, wood, wet
west, well, wear,
water and Washington
I wish everyday was Wednesday,
because although I like Friday sometimes,
I like some space on either side
of my week.
It makes me feel warm,
like having two friends
sitting with me.
