Publishing Notes:

This was my first adventure into self-publishing, right out of college. Although I eventually sold out my first print run, the book was banned from the college bookstore. I felt terrible, since I also got yelled at by the college P.R. person. But that's the trouble with journalism: even if you like the person people are angry at (president Mary Metz, Mills' "Steel Magnolia"), you have to portray the true spirit of the times. And well, hair was a symbol.
