Author Comment:

I had read an article in 2008, in the San Francisco Chronicle, about a 14-year-old girl who had suffered two years of peer bullying, despite three changes in school. (The bullies caught up with her on MySpace, so children at her subsequent schools received word that she was a "target" and picked up where the bullies at her previous schools had left off.) At the bottom of the article was a request for letters of encouragement to the girl. I wrote one, and I later found out that her story was nationally televised. The letter that I wrote to Olivia will be among other letters published in "Letters to a Bullied Girl: Messages of Healing and Hope," a collection of some of the 4,000 letters that Olivia received in response to the publicity about her story. I am honored to be a part of such a meaningful project.
