Synopsis:
A lame dog, a lost girl, and a story readers will never forget.
After losing her parents and brother to a drunk driving accident, twelve-year-old Piper Leigh Cliff and her dog, Someday, are forced to live with her alcoholic grandfather in the ugliest apartment complex in Goochland County, Virginia. Soon, we find out that Piper is going to face even more obstacles as she's challenged with her grandfather's abuse, his friend's attempt at assaulting her, and the boys in the neighborhood who pick on her.
Her luck begins to change, however, when two women move in just three doors down. The trio soon forge a relationship, despite the warnings from her grandfather to stay away. When the wheels of fate go into motion, everyone is lead to the county pound, juvenile domestic court, and a revelation that will change the course of Piper's life forever.
When Piper's ownn Amber Alert goes off, Lord knows what will happen next.

In my mind's eye, I can't remember anything about why my mom, dad and brother went away to heaven. Someday put her head in my lap while I sat cross-legged and read my Skateboarding magazine. I looked up for the place where they talked about ollies and getting air, and I surveyed the glistening creek and my claim on the land. Next to the edge of my fort, I noticed there was an old red flay laying in the muck next to some crunched soda tabs. It had a big red leaf in the middle of it and was faded from weather. Wiping the cracked mud off, I stuck it on the end of a thick stick and jammed it in the ground.
Then I pulled a Marlboro Light from a stolen pack and lit it.
Someday does not die in my story. But if I could have killed Victor with some tight fishing line wrapped around his throat, I would have done so.
