Righteous Blood

Synopsis:
Two novellas (long short stories) on the theme of evil in our society.
These are not simple moral fables, but multi-layered and intensive investigations into the nature and source and allure of evil. The first story concerns the efforts of a man to protect a family from interior strife and outside dangers (and all the while living in their garage without their knowledge). The second novella, "Kept", is a no holds barred thrill ride, a trip inside the strangest apartment block you're ever likely to come across. The denizens of the Strathcona Building are weird, bizarre, other-worldly. And they are under the protection of a caretaker who will go to any extreme to keep them safe from the world beyond the front door.
Both novellas have been optioned for adaptation into movies--"Kept" is currently in pre-production at Twisted Pictures/LionsGate, producers of the popular "Saw" series.
Author Comment:
Righteous Blood is made up of two novellas that will definitely stay with you for a long time to come.
As reviewer Ed Bryant noted in Locus, Righteous Blood never stops surprising you and defeating your preconceptions. Just when you think you've got it figured out, you're left dangling by your fingernails.
Both stories have strong cinematic elements, which is likely why they seemed so attractive to film-makers. I can only hope the finished movies will retain some elements of the original tales, the unsettling quality so many readers related to, the true fear these offerings were able to instill.
