The Mourning After

Synopsis:
I grew up in South Florida at a time when the mean streets were safe and carefree for a child. Like all big cities, Miami and the surrounding area soon felt the tides of change with homicides on the increase and safety on the streets a thing of the past. I doubt I was ever more affected by any of the brutalities that hit the news than that of the kidnapping and murder of six-year-old Adam Walsh on July 27, 1981. I recall wishing I was in law enforcement and what and how I would help bring closure and healing to the Walsh family. The Mourning After is a piece of fiction which had been brewing in my mind for decades. Upon the completion I realized, with the pain of my own emotions, why I hadn't completed it much earlier. It is the story of a brutal and senseless murder and a female homicide officer, Tara Mitchell, and her passion through pain for justice.
