Synopsis:

From the back of the book:

Eason is a born mythmaker.  Her poetry is hallucinatory, oracular, gritty, and elegant, and her mythopoetic heart never fails to turn the human condition into epic song, one that redeems us all.  Bruce McAllister, DREAM BABY

Alethea Eason's images split the world open with new inspirations as she explores a modern woman's sense of self.  Her work is pyschologically complex, spiritually rewarding and emotionally rich. Madonna Sophia Compton,  ARCHETYPES ON THE TREE OF LIFE and HERBAL GOLD

Alelthea Eason lives in a "real world" made of magical transformations.  She burns through incarnations of wife and mermaid and tule gras, each time teaching us the impermanence of lives, the beauty of emotion, of tendernes, of light. jill Wright, Starry Puddle Publishing

If Eve were alive today, she'd write like Alethea Eason.  August Highland, Editor, Writer and Visual Artist

Book Excerpt:

Persistent Lover

I reach down and listen

 to the wild place

I've been afraid to enter,

buried like Pluto's treasure

under raw and ragged truth.

This is a time for evolution.

The gods' tongues

are slipping, fracturing

cell and bone.

My skin is only

a covering.  These hands hold

nothing. Oh, darkness, sing

my song to me.  I am

too tired not to dance

into sunlight ribbed

by the filament of your wings.

Your wisdom rises

in inchoate speech whispering

until I’ve been whittled

and burned. Let me

fly to the life that your shadows

have cast for me.

Persistent lover, greedy

Hades, I eat these

pomegranate seeds

willingly.  Hunger is

sweetness on my tongue.
